2 corrections:
the firehouse on north cap is in Bloomingdale, not LeDroit Park.
the EYA development site is the old sand filtration site, not the reservoir. the reservoir hopefully wont get developed as its still in use.
i'm surprised to hear about the RFP for the lot at north cap and florida. i thought there were already plans for that. no?
thanks.
You are correct in thats is Bloomingdale. Coming from the Realtor background I usually only know areas based on their legal subdivision. As far as advertised subdivision Bloomingdale would be correct.
The reservoir is here to stay. Its another habit. Most of my clients only know about the reservoir because its the only large body of water in the area.
The plans for N Cap & Florida were, to my recollection, approved about six months ago. They accepted one of the submitted RFP's.
Thanks for tuning in.
Do you have any more info on the accepted RFP for N Cap & Florida? Last I recall it was something about Joe Mamo wanting a height waiver from 8 stories to 9 (or more?). Can you confirm this and/or fill in the details?
Thanks for taking notice of the Firehouse project, btw. This is an interesting neighborhood to be in right now. It's odd to contemplate all the NOMA development that's going on from Union Station up to NY Ave Station - in a couple more years, 1st NE is going to look like K Street...
if you're going to talk about "legal subdivisions" at least get it right. the legal designation for the firehouse according to the DIstrict is Eckington. most people consider it Bloomingdale, no-one with any idea of the neighborhood would call it Ledroit Park.
Thanks for the heads up...I'm working on getting some info for you on the latest for the project at N Cap and Florida.
As for the subdivisions, its hard to keep up with all of the details in a daily blog. I'll take mention of it and make sure to correct the location for future posts.
The developer of the Firehouse should be on the show this Friday so it will be online all of next weekend.
To see the complications on the physical boundaries of the area see this post from another blogger:

it's not complicated. it's NOT legally or advertised or in any other way Ledroit Park. when realtors are so ill informed about the neighborhoods they supposedly represent it isn't a good advertisement for their services. now, what you may be confused about, is that the area north of Rhode Island avenue is Ledroit Park as well as Bloomingdale. you might also note, that while the firehouse might become the first full scale sit down restaurant in the neighborhood, it is not the first establishment. the extremely popular Big Bear cafe just one block from the fire house holds that honor.
Thanks for your post, Jesse - keep it up.
As you can see we're pretty pationate about our neighborhood identity!
I can tell! I do appreciate all of the corrections. At least we know its not going to happen again. Big Bear Cafe is spectacular. The difference between the two is that the Firehouse is intended to have a full restaurant with bar & lounge.
